Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, nominated 152 Special Assistants and 34 Senior Special Assistants from five Local Government  in the Edo South Senatorial District on Monday.

The governor tasked the new hires to be truth-tellers and support the government’s initiatives to promote grassroots development.

The governor announced, “We are appointing SSAs and SAs from five of the seven local government areas in Edo South. We want everyone to have the chance to participate, therefore we’re working to promote inclusivity and unity inside our party.

“You all are my appointees; you work for me, not the local government,” he continued. We have teachers, health professionals, and many more people working in all the wards of Edo State as we collaborate to build the region. People on the ground should inform the populace of what we are doing and ask for their opinion in return.

“Being a resident of that local government is one of the essential requirements for appointment because political appointees cannot be chosen while not present. The days of getting an appointment and traveling abroad are over; it won’t ever happen again. You must live in the area served by your local government. You must be present to understand what is happening in order to aid in the development of the State and local governments.

“You are all members of our party, and you must demonstrate your loyalty to it in order to maintain your appointment. You must advance the party’s interests. The latest local government election in the state shown that the people have chosen to support our party.
