Kanayo O. Kanayo, an actor known by his stage name Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, has declared that he will never engage in money rituals despite being well known in Nollywood for playing ceremonial figures.
The venerable actor said this in a recent interview with Afia TV while emphasizing that the occultic deed is not inherently good.
Kanayo felt compelled to explain the nickname “Nnanyi Sacrifice” that people have been calling him, claiming that it was originally uttered at Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial in Oba two years ago.
Money rituals are bad and never will be good, Kanayo declared. Both in the future and in the past, I won’t participate in it. That’s precisely the nickname someone named me while Obi Cubana’s mother was being buried when you hear them call me “Nnanyi Sacrifice.”
Immediately after you start rejecting a name, it sticks, which is one thing about names. Pay me my check and call me whatever you want. The message will have a greater impact on society if we pay attention. Just a vessel, that’s all.
