Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in 2023, claims that only by working together will the leaders be able to address the security situation plaguing the southeast region of Nigeria.
On September 29, Obi made this statement while participating digitally at the Southeast Summit
The region’s mostly businesspeople residents, according to the previous governor of Anambra State, have steadily lost their sources of income as a result of illegal activity carried out by hoodlums in the area.
“This summit, which is solely focused on security and its economic effects on the Southeast, has come at the most fortunate time,” he remarked. It is imperative that we as a nation unite and work together to find a long-term solution to the issue of homeland insecurity.
I want to thank the governors of the Southeast for coming up with the idea for the summit and working together to make it happen.
“Let me urge everyone here at this summit, as well as those of us who cannot come in person, to speak up, share ideas, and participate in the initiatives or activities that would be decided upon at this summit to eliminate the problem of insecurity in our region.
