The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has finally offered his thoughts on the present issue in Rivers State.
In an address to the media on Tuesday, Wike, the outgoing governor of Rivers State, transferred authority to Sim Fubara, his protégé.
He made these comments following a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-aligned governors’ meeting in Abuja that same day. Contrary to rumors on social media, Wike said that the main opposition party is in control of the situation and stressed that the problem is not an ethnic one.
On Monday, there were rumors going around that the situation in Rivers State was related to an ethnic conflict between the Ijaws and the Ikweres.
